Life lessons from Cinderella
- Bad circumstances is fate, bad behaviour is choice- Cinderella is treated unkindly and unfairly, yet she is optimistic and holds on to hope.
- Live in the moment and relax- when Cinderella dances with the Prince she leaves all her worries behind.
- Animals are good companions- especially when they make your clothes and help you clean.
- If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all- You got that evil stepmother and stepsisters?
- Things and people have a way of finding us when we least expect it! Cinderella was locked in an attic yet she got her happily ever after.
- Bad things always seem to lead us to good things. It's all a matter of perspective.
- Expectation is the road that leads nowhere- Cinderella just wanted to feel beautiful for one night, after that she went back to her life never expecting to hear from the prince again. She never expected for him to call upon her.
- Choose to think outside the box- if you have seen Cinderella 2 you would know that Cinderella has a lot of trouble settling in to her new life as a princess and if you haven't seen the movie- well then your just crazy. Anyways, Cinderella learns to blaze her own trail even in the face of old, outdated royal traditions. YOU GO GLEN COCO! She welcomes risks and makes changes such as closing the gap between different social classes.
- When others try to take what you have away from you like in Cinderella 3 where the evil stepmother turns back time to take away Cinderalla's happily ever after, you have to trust that your faith will see you through. The only magic in this world is the thing's we can't see, the unkown = faith.
- Get up off your ass! Making your dreams come true requires hard work and YES- this extends to finding your Prince Charming or Cinderella- like all things in life relationships require work. But the reward is worth it. Promise!!!!!!
Life lessons from The Little Mermaid
- You can discover a lot about other people without speaking- through observing there body language and actions.
- Cherish your voice, it's sad how often we underestimate the power of our own voices- voices literally have the power to drive change.
- No person is worth giving up everything about who you are, but if it’s really love you may be willing to anyway.
- Not everyone's always going to be supportive of your dreams- but both mistakes and success requires practical experience. You'll never know if you don't try.
- REMEMBER: Differences in a relationship are good, even if it's something as bizarre as being a mermaid. When people are too similar relationships are boring and usually don't work.
- Crabs such as Sebastian are skilled flirts and good at tutoring others in this subject.
- We have to stand on our own 2 feet metaphorically and literally; seriously did you see Ariel when she first got legs- she fell on her ass!
- Love and making our dreams comes true requires sacrifice- Ariel gave up her voice but even after she got it back, being with a Prince meant she couldn't be a mermaid anymore, she didn't get the best of both worlds.
- We have to take advantage of the opportunities offered to us, life isn't meant for staying in one place. Ariel wanted more then to stay in the ocean and swim. She recognized new worlds and new experiences that she wanted to take part in and went for it.
- We are capable of more then we think- stepping outside our comfort zone is scary but it shows us that we are only limited by our imagination.
Life lessons from Sleeping beauty
- When people are treated unfairly they are likely to respond and not in a positive way, Maleficent wasn't invited to the party but she rocked up anyway and it wasn't with a smile on her face and a pleasant gift in her hand.
- We should be striving in our own lives to turn a hedge of thorns into a hedge of flowers- thus strive to turn evil into good.
- Honesty is the key to a successful friendship- Merryweather tells Flora the dress she made for Aurora was awful. So sometimes honesty has it's perks as we understand it allows us to grow as people, gain insight and learn from our mistakes and sometimes it results in a fully-fledged wand fight and intensified conflict (which BTW is more entertaining to watch).
- Don't shelter your child from the dangers in life, tell them the truth of these dangers and the consequences that occur as a result- if Aurora knew what would happen by touching a spindle she wouldn't have touched the spindle!
- Double identities creates confusion/ use one name only people- the prince fell in love with Briar Rose but was betrothed to Aurora, both of which were the same person only he didn't know that.
- STRANGER DANGER- be cautious with strangers and don't dance with them unless there really really hot then you dance first and run away later (Just Kidding, the cute ones are the ones you gotta watch out for).
- Home is where the heart is. Aurora's family is always there for her, and her parents help to support one another.
- True love means risking your life and laying down your life to save another.
- Don't allow others to compromise your desires.
- NEGATIVE LESSON- that beauty and physical attraction is all you require to have a good life, I didn't see any of the fairy Godmother's giving her the gift of intelligence or wisdom.
Life lessons from Mulan
- "The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of them all"-The emperor had it right, I don't understand why it took Shang so long to figure it out but he did in the end. Everyone faces challenges, but it's the people who don't let these challenges get the better of them that are true leaders.
- Females aren't damsels in distress that constantly need saving, were capable of more then we think- Females can do almost anything a man can and we should be given the chance to try without fear of being discriminated against.
- Small dragons make for good friends.
- Creativity is key- it wasn't just through Mulan's fighting skills that she became a good soldier, she was creative in her ideas such as using the last cannon to create an avalanche.
- Persevere- being dedicated to your cause pays off and teaches us to battle through stressful situations.
- Be daring and crazy- Mulan impersonated a male soldier, started an avalanche and jumped off and blew up a palace and it all worked out perfectly for her so why not? Maybe don't be that extreme but taking risks can be a good thing. The crazy and daring make good leaders.
- Mulan 2- You must be gentle but at the same time be tough- to be a good warrior you have to bring it all into balance.
- Family is important- Mulan is always thinking about her family which is the reason why she impersonates a soldier in the first place, and her family is always thinking about her. Her ancestors guide her and help her continue in her mission.
- Love and relationships with other people is the greatest gift and honour anyone could ask for.
- YING AND YANG- we are all interconnected!
Life lessons from Beauty and the Beast
- Love is blind/Love is in the eye of the beholder- Beauty is on the inside, being kind to others and being selfless overrides appearance.
- Smart and bookish= beautiful, focus more on improving your mind rather then your looks.
- Knowledge is power- despite Gaston's protestations that "it's not right for a woman to read!Soon she starts getting ideas, and thinking."- never have I heard something so wrong.
- Always try to see the best in people- that could never possibly be a mistake!
- Every rose has it's thorn- beauty and flaws go hand in hand, you can't have one without the other.
- Love has the power to change you into the person you were meant to be.
- Love, a cup of tea and a good book are the greatest healers.
- Stand by your family- Belle’s steadfast support of her father despite the whole town’s mockery and skepticism is truly an act of admirable courage.
- It's not till you lose everything that you can truly appreciate what you have- the Beast back when he was human was selfish and now that his a beast he desires to be human again.
- Don't let fear get in the way of new experiences.
